April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is among only a handful of female beach volleyball players that achieve this feat. She will be competing in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. But more than that, Ross is aiming to capture her very first Olympic gold. This could be the final time she has the chance at age 39. However, she remains optimistic that most prestigious prizes are at hand. If we play our best or even very well, I think we'll get that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. This is why I'm going to try an extra bit of luck too. Ross was born in 1982 and lived within Costa Mesa California with her sisters and parents, was the first to begin participating in sports at the Newport Harbor High school. Ross competed in many athletics while she was at Newport Harbor High School. As a student-athlete she also played indoor volleyball and track. As a finalist in her sport she clearly stood out. Based on her bio, she played an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter in the volleyball court throughout her time in high school. The effort was recognized with her being selected as 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. Her skills in volleyball earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Although Ross and Klineman are a couple since 2017, the former had been an experienced participant on the beaches prior to their team. There is no doubt that she has been a prominent player on the scene of beaches for many years. Ross actually took home several titles, and even one with a famous volleyball legend. She partnered up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman and Kessy's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross was an active participant on the international stage, claiming an international title in 2009. The duo won silver at London's Olympics. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor were the winners, beating them to it. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. The pair went on to earn the beach volleyball bronze during the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a player for the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from high school. In fact, her time through the institution was a memorable one. Her achievements included an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000. Her Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she was devastated by a personal loss, yet she managed to win an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans to the top of the hill and won consecutive national titles. In her own way She established her spot as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award went to the highest female collegiate player of the year in America. Ross majored in International Relations at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie was not able to witness her daughter ascend to the top levels in beach volleyball's acclaim. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She is deeply in love with the memory of her parent. Margie remains an inspiration on the beach, and throughout her life.
