Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds Soul gospel Jazz and R&B to create a unique mix. Sunshine has appeared on Broadway, at the Democratic National Convention and in clubs and festivals throughout Europe. Sunshine's the name of Denise White. While she's based in Atlanta however, her roots lie in Chester Pennsylvania. There she started to pursue an interest in music, as a singer and pianist at the church. In Atlanta she went to Spellman College where her musical instruction began with the Atlanta's R&B Scene. The first track to showcase her vocals was Stalk You which was a song from Japan's house 12 song. It has been remixed and a part of her set. Her voice also appeared on the soundtrack for The Fighting Temptations. In 2005, Tyler Perry hired her as the principal keyboardist on his stage play Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- and Tony Award winning vocalist who has worked on stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to serve as the choir leader of this theatrical production. Sunshine was brought to the attention of America during the daily performances of four at 2008's Democratic National Convention. Sunshine followed up with being asked to sing in the presence of President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
